Store Soleiebotntind

Store Soleiebotntind is a fantastic peak. You don´t need to climb technically and the trip can be completed by most who are relatively fit. At the top you have amazing views of the Jotunheimen mountains. You can easily access the peak from the road which runs to Årdal.  You follow the road up from the hotel to where it turns of to the left and you see the mountains on your left. Here the road will start to descend a bit and you come to a river called Tverrelvi at 1240m. There is a small car park where you can park.

Follow the path on the right side of the river with all the small lakes and ponds on your left side. Continue up towards the mountain ridge, Bukkanosi. On the ridge you will pass a cairn at 1674m before a sharp ascend on a clearly marked path.  Continue up to the “false top” and then onwards to the real top at 2083m. The mountain was first climbed on 14th August 1888 by Kristofer Furaas, Margaret Sophia Green and Torgeir Sulheim.
