Glacier treks and Potholing with Norgesguidene

Glacier treks on the Bøver glacier
A stone´s throw from the Sognefjellshytta lodge you will find Bøver glacier with its fantastic blue ice formations. Norway has for the most part been carved out by glaciers and here you have a golden opportunity to study the glaciers carving properties. The trek will start at the Sognefjellshytta lodge and follow the old tracks towards the glacier. Here we will trek through the middle and upper glacial formations. Norgesguidene will provide you will all the necessary equipment. The only thing you need to remember to take with you is a big packed lunch. This is a cosy and not too strenuous trip and a treat for the senses.  Age restrictions: minimum 8 years.

Potholing in Dumdalen
In the Dumdalen valley the river has through many thousands of years created wondrous tunnels and halls underground. The limestone bedrock in the area not only provides nourishment to a fantastic array of flora, but also to the possibility of exploring the underground fantasy worlds. Together with an experienced guide from Norgesguidene you can safely explore underwater torrents, eat your packed lunch in Fantomhola or search for trout in the cave of fishes. Through the tightest parts of the caves you will be on your knees, elbows and stomach. Dumdalen itself is a beautiful valley where the river, when not underground, winds its way through a lush and flowering landscape. Here you will find the largest concentration of places to stop and eat lunch in the whole of Jotunheimen. All these joys are situated a mere 15 minutes´ walk from Route 55. The Dumdal´s caves are now protected and partly closed to the public – this includes the caves situated furthest in the valley but there are nonetheless an array of fantastic caves to explore. The caves contain some fragile scientific information, for example on ice-age sedimentation, and we hope that everyone respects the caves protected status. The potholing trips are available to everyone and every level. All you need is a pack lunch and clothes which can handle getting very dirty.  Age restriction: minimum 6 years.
